Because….
If this is the scene where Kaname is awakening because Yuki sacrificed her life to make him human….i have a few questions….
1. What kind of mother is Yuki to leave her children like that? They seem pretty young still to me…i mean they already lost their father…why would you do that?…The hell Yuki?
2. Um, Hi, how can Kaname be a human when he doesn’t have a heart???
3. How come Kaname didn’t shatter like all the other purebloods? He was supposedly put to sleep but how and why?
4. If you could put a pureblood to sleep even after they ripped their heart out, awaken them again by making them human….uhh WHY didn’t Kaname sacrifice his life to make the hooded woman human??? Wasn’t he in love with her? Didn’t he long for death once she was gone?? Wouldn’t he want her to live?
5. Why didn’t Isaya just turn Kaname human right after he went to sleep? Isaya was tired of living without his family and longed for death….freaking why not let him do what he wanted?
6. Why did they wait so many years to do so? Did they HAVE to wait? Why bother after all that time?? And why is he preserved so well?
7. Why even wake Kaname up? The poor man has been begging for death since the beginning. His fate is once again being decided by another. (HW, Rido, and Yuki) I guess its pretty ironic since thats all he did to others in life. But now hes going to be living a life not knowing who he is?….Thanks Yuki…?

Hino better include more about the others (Shiki, Kain etc.) in the final edition. The ending can't be saved but at least alleviate the pain with bonus on the others!

There certainly needs to be an epilogue, it wont save the story as you say, but maybe it would feel like it actually has an ending…
Most of Vk’s chapters are nothing but random, angsty, fan-service filler…they lead really no where. I can’t believe i started out LOVING vampire knight and ended it hating it with a passion…how does one even do that..? -sigh-

She was going to fight the other PBs but Artemis shattered and she was only saved b/c Kaname sacrificed himself to make hunter weapons and Zero arrived and protected her. In the end she didn't even have to choose b/w the 2 men. Even when she died to turn K. human, she already didn't want to live b/c Zero died so that wasn't much of a sacrifice, it was an easy way out with her looking "saintly".

Like i said…the ending is SUPER UTTER CRAP.
And yep, thats mainly the heroine’s fault. Hino has utterly failed…i can’t even process my feelings right now…But yeah i agree.
She did nothing and got whatever she wanted…its just….i cannot deal right now, sorry.

Its such a horrible ending…I think i and a couple of other people predicted this a long while back too. I need to go find that post.

Basically everyone got a rotten deal BUT Yuki, the one that deserved it. She didn’t do ANYTHING the entire manga and yet she is rewarded in the end. People keep making the excuse that it is a Shoujo manga but i’ve read plenty of them and even some in-between reading Vampire Knight and NONE of them were as unfair as this one. Even ‘Stepping on Roses’ had a better end in my opinion T.T And thats saying a lot if you ever read it.
What even is the moral of the story?? I thought Vk was mainly about getting vampires and humans to co-exist? Why did it turn into a sappy, pathetic, fluke of a romance story?? Uh, it disgusts me really. And I just LOVE how all the minor characters that played a much BIGGER Part of the story than our own heroine did, got like two pathetic, tiny pics to sum up their arcs. Like what the hell? That wasn’t closure !
Well…theres nothing we can do i guess…yes, just make up your own ending! It’d probably make much more sense than this crap.
